We partner with Compassion International, a non-profit that rescues children from poverty in the name of Jesus. Compassion does crucial work across the globe, helping children in some of the poorest regions by providing mentoring, medical care, dependable meals, and more. If you sponsor a child through Compassion International, and haven’t done so recently, take some time to write him or her a letter today. Compassion children love receiving letters from their sponsor; it’s one of the things they talk about the most. More than the money you send, or the gifts they get for Christmas, your loving presence in their life can help them understand the love Jesus has for them.

If you don’t sponsor a child through Compassion, take some time at compassion.com/prayer to pray for Compassion children by name, or even check out their prayer calendar for January. These children desperately need the work of God’s grace in their lives, even above their physical needs. Take time to pray that God would provide for both.

As we seek to grow in our love for all, consider Jesus’ example in Mark 9:35-37:

“And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”
