The Way of the Exile: A Kingdom that is Not Our Own
Jeremiah 29:4-9

Parents, join us as we celebrate Jeremiah 29:4-9 at home as a family. This week our family lessons are different from the sermon series you will hear preached, and that is intentional. We are getting ready to enter into a sermon series on Daniel, a young man living as an exile in the kingdom of Babylon. This week, your children will be learning what it means to live in exile, and what it means to live intentionally for God in a kingdom that is not your own. This will help us enter into the book of Daniel with knowledge about this idea of living in exile and worshipping God above all else. Below are a variety of resources that mirror what your student is used to seeing and experiencing in a Vintage Kids classroom. Feel free to walk through this guide as it is or pick and choose based on your family. As always, your discipleship of your children is of utmost importance, Vintage is here to partner in that walk. Add, continue conversations, and enhance through family time this week. Let us know how we can help!

Verse To Memorize With Your Kids:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

(Memorizing with younger kids? Print our shortened verse to color, hang, and practice with them!)

We began a new verse last week that will partner over the length of our upcoming sermon series in Daniel! As we spend time in Daniel, we will be looking at a children’s ministry at what it looks like to follow God in a kingdom that is not your own, as an exile. We will be memorizing Proverbs 3:5-6 as we travel through the story of Daniel; anchoring our truth in the fact that no matter where God leads, we can Trust in him. Will you join us in memorizing this verse as a family and making scripture memorization part of your weekly routine?

Use our resources below and print our memory verse out for your child to decorate and hang somewhere where you will see it and decorate it. Use the Memory Verse practice page to help you and your child pull the verse apart and think about what each piece of the verse means. Understanding of the verse will help in committing it to memory- not only of the head but also of the heart. If you don’t have a printer, feel free to write it on a piece of paper and work on it there!
