Parents, join us as we begin to slow down and ready our hearts for the season of Advent, the season of waiting and remembering that Jesus meets us in our weakest moments, telling us to ‘fear not.’ During this series we will be traveling through the New Testament, learning from different people that are met with the phrase ‘fear not.’ As you hear what this means, and as your child hears what this means, reflect on what areas are causing fear and anxiety in your own life, and how Jesus is calling you to pause and give those to him. Use the Advent Map sent in the mail, found here, on our website, or sent home in our Vintage Classrooms to re-teach, re-read, and foster discussion at home during this Advent season. As always, your discipleship of your children is of utmost importance, Vintage is here to partner in that walk. Add, continue conversations, and enhance through family time this week. Let us know how we can help!

Catechism Question To Review As A Family:

Question 42: How is the Word of God to be read and heard?

Answer: With diligence, preparation, and prayer; so that we may accept it with faith, store it in our hearts, and practice it in our lives.

Verse to Memorize:

As we move into Advent, our new verse to memorize and think upon is Galatians 4:4-5  But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.

Print this verse and hang it in your home. Put it to song. Repeat it. Talk about it. Reflect on how God sent his son for you and for me. What a good God we serve.

Advent Calendar

Over our advent series we are learning about various people in scripture who were told to “Fear Not.” This packet includes an advent map and blank cut-out people to foster discussion during the week about these stories and to help us slow down and remember that Jesus meets us in our weakest moments, telling us to ‘fear not’. Hang your advent map up on your refrigerator, in your child’s room, or somewhere where your family will be able to look at it and discuss it during the week. Help your child cut out and place his or her person on their advent map each week, watching the lesson at above or asking them to share the story they learned in Vintage Kids with you. Help re-teach and re-read as necessary. We hope this ongoing craft is a helpful reminder that Jesus is near to each of us. Fear Not!
