The Church in Action:
Our kids often see the church as the building they walk into on Sundays, and if we are honest with ourselves so do we. But the church is so much more than the four walls that keep the rain out. The church is the people, boots to the ground, caring for others, loving others, and making disciples by sharing Jesus with others. As we study the book of Acts your family will have the chance to talk about what the Holy Spirit looks like as it moves through the lives of God’s people, creating change hearts and moving in ways we could not even dream up. The book of Acts is the church in action, and the church isn’t the church unless we see action. During this series you will hear your kids talking about and asking questions about the Holy Spirit, making disciples, sharing the gospel, caring for those who are hurting, and getting out of their comfort zones to make Jesus known to the ends of the earth- even if that just means the other end of the street for them. Join them as a family to take a look at what faith lived out looks like. We can’t wait to see Vintage Church move and grow through this series.
Catechism Question To Review As A Family:
Question 48: What is the church?
Answer: God chooses and preserves for himself a community elected for eternal life and united by faith, who love, follow, learn from, and worship God together. God sends out this community to proclaim the gospel and prefigure Christ’s kingdom by the quality of their life together and their love for one another.
Verse to Memorize:
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
Our new memory verse this month comes from Matthew 28:19-20. Write this verse somewhere in your house where your family can see it and practice it weekly. Say it in the car, while cooking dinner, while playing. Coming back to this verse as a reminder will help your children remember Jesus’ call on our lives as members of his church!

Activity with Your Kids
What is Your Athens?
• Give your child a piece of paper with columns drawn on either side
• Talk to them about how Paul went to Athens to preach even though it was a scary place to preach about Jesus!
• Allow your child to talk about places that are hard for them to share about Jesus. That might be school, a sports team, with a neighbor.
• In the center of the page allow students to write or draw about their places. Remind them that, just like Paul in Athens, they have the Holy Spirit and can share about Jesus anywhere!
